System Certification

Certification –the provision by an independent body of written assurance (a certificate) that the product, service, or system in question meets specific requirements. Certification can be a useful tool to add credibility, by demonstrating that your product or service meets the expectations of clients’ customers. For some industries, certification is a legal or contractual requirement.

Across virtually every business sector and area of economic activity, certification creates greater levels of assurance, creating confidence and driving performance.

System Certification

ISO 9001 was first published in 1987 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), an international agency composed of the national standards bodies of more than 160 countries. The current version of ISO 9001 was released in September 2015.

The standard has been written using a new high-level structure found in all new management systems standards allowing for easy integration with other standards within an organization’s management system.

Organizations have three years from publication (15 September 2015) to successfully complete transition to the new standard, so they can choose to transition at any point within this period.

Some may choose their next certification cycle, although many will want to be ‘among the first’ given the increased flexibility and value that ISO 14001:2015 will deliver, along with the bonus of a clear commitment to best practice being demonstrated to their interested parties.

Occupational Health and Safety Management systems certification to OHSAS 18001 is a strong sign of your organization’s commitment to your employees’ health and safety.

This system is proven to enable a business to be pro-active rather then re-active when approaching health and safety, therefore more effectively protecting the health and welfare of your workforce on an on-going basis. OHSAS 18001 health and safety management provides a process driven approach to controlling and monitoring risks that can arise from the company’s day to day activities.

It enables organizations to demonstrate excellence and prove best practice in Information Security management. Conformance with the standard requires commitment to continually improve control of confidential and sensitive information, providing reassurance to sponsors, shareholders and customers alike.

Re-released in 2013, ISO/IEC 27001 builds upon established foundations as the most widely recognized international standard specifically aimed at information security management. The adoption of an Information Security Management System (ISMS) is a strategic decision driving the coordination of operational security controls across all the organization’s electronic and physical information resources.

With so many goods and services brought to market at the end of often complex supply chains – frequently on an international basis – maintaining the security of the supply chain is imperative for a huge range of organizations. Certification to ISO 28000 acts as a cornerstone of managing the inherent risks in the supply chain by providing a structured approach to understanding, measuring, and managing these risks. ISO give further explanation of ISO 28000.

One of the newest management system standards, ISO 50001 is already building a reputation as an invaluable tool for organizations to manage their energy usage. Helping organizations manage and reduce their energy usage delivers the twin benefits of cost reduction and reduced carbon footprint. ISO explain more about this highly significant management system standard.
